We've gotten 2" of rain in the last few days and things are a little soggy.
35682978495_10bb7381d2_b.jpg

We purchased 6 new 11L15 tires and one new 8x15 rim for an additional spare so hopefully it's enough to ward off the flat tire demons for a while. Here are the unmounted three left ...
35552639661_a00b7272e7_b.jpg

The worst one that blew. It was definitely time for this one to go ... not sure how it slipped by my spring equipment checks ...
34842070674_3e82eb4066_b.jpg

Also, here are some photos of pops little shop.

South wall has most of the tool storage.
34842070824_775559962a_b.jpg

West wall has most of the small supplies and a small wood working area.
34842070874_79c1fc3835_b.jpg

North wall has the metal fab stuff. Welders, drill press, plasma cutter, etc...
34842071124_f9cb491497_b.jpg

And a new toy today. The boiler on the old pressure washer gave up the ghost for the 5th time so we thought it was time for a new one. We'll see if this one lasts longer than the other one.
34842071194_04efb672a0_b.jpg

The sun hit the trees just right tonight that I had to stop and seize the photo-opportunity.

Beautiful picture. Hopefully the flat tire demons are gone now.

All my burbs are 6.5, I plan on building an avalanche with a duramax someday.

Well we all have that one vehicle we've always wanted to own. Mine happens to be a 98' Grand Cherokee 5.9l Limited Edition in Dark Slate. I know it's not all that special but hey, you've got to start somewhere. Back when I had more time I did a few things to her, Doug Thorley headers & 3" mandrel SS Exhaust, M1 4bbl intake, bigger injectors, K/N intake, lowered with HR Springs, 17x9 Mustang Bullitt's, SCT Tuned, Addco sways front and rear and a few other things I can't remember. For what it is, it scoots right along.

I washed it up and took a few photos. I think this one is my favorite by far.
35295872860_83083a359e_b.jpg

This one is neat too ....
35295872660_3ecffc9dd3_b.jpg

This one just begged me to take it. It's not a mall crawler, no folks here we have a wall crawler. Haha. The suspension is not very "flexy" like it should be on a Jeep and just by doing this little "climb" the front drivers tire was almost off the ground.

Every 3-4 days I put fresh straw down for them to lay on. It's a rather good time because they are very rambunctious and enjoy the whole ordeal as much as I do. I leave the bales just like this for the older animals to spread around on their own but I spread it around with a fork for the little ones.

List it on craigslist, people pay way too much for things that have a patina.

Love the jeep, those rims really make it stand out!

Thanks !! They came from a fellow GJ'er. He had them on a S/C'd Buick Regal that ran 11's and I pestered him enough until I made them mine :3gears:

How's the silo coming down? We'll need a video of demo.
Gonna wrap a cable around the bottom and pull. It should collapse and fall away from the pull tractor. I've got a buddy that has a tractor pull tractor that runs in the unlimited class and am trying my best to have him hook on to do the honors. The tractor has 5 blown 572's putting down something stupid like 6,000hp so it should be able to pull it over I think :D

Good times will be had by all. All are welcome to attend the silo downing party when it happens.

Here's proof that the Jeep gets out once in a while. I primarily use it to pull my DJ trailer to and from jobs.
35552828811_5e8e9ea66d_b.jpg

The silo shed is looking more vacant every day.
35552829021_46b89603c4_b.jpg

Stupid pile of junk under where it used to be but that's easy to clean up. That's my pops in the photo. I tore it apart and he was taking nails out of the lumber. I'm a borderline hoarder and there's no way this lumber is leaving the yard. The "2x4's" are 1.75"x3.75". Been a while since they were that size ...

Dad built a discharge chute for the gravity box feeding the smallest steers and something went very wrong. "This *****" about sums it up. (The wood thing is suppose to be attached to the green thing)

That is probably what is going to happen. His sponsors said no way in hell was he going to pull a silo over. Boo.

My steers have been beating the **** out of the covers on the waterers so I'm making new ones that are just a 'little' bit heavier.

Well I got one of the new waterer covers cold galvanized today.

This stuff is amazing. It sticks and lasts forever. There are two colors things are getting painted around here, silver and Classic JD Green.
35552943821_37552356e1_b.jpg

Also made some progress on another never-ending project. I got the A/C "installed" in the camper. 12k BTU portable room A/C vented through the floor. Should help keep it cooler I hope.

It is a rather non-traditional camper that my wife is slowly accepting as part of our life ....

Well done, I love the camper. have you got some more pics of the inside. There is a 67 GMC motorhome near us that has been for sale for about 18 months, My wife would skin me alive if I bought home another project before we finished the house.

Pretty cool. thanks for sharing. We have a 2002 Summerwind ruck camper that we have been putting our personal touch to. It's nice but a full size would be nicer. The biggest draw back here is the cost of keeping it registered for the road all year. We usually only get a day or two at a time to get away.
Thanks again for the pics.

I've mentioned my "cattle waterers" a few times and here is one of them. I have two just like this. Johnson 360 concrete cattle waterer. They weigh 1100lbs each so they're not gonna move easily.
35644121906_a3c852fb21_b.jpg

Sweet corn is doing rather nice, the stuff that came up that is.
35514424182_35ee6046db_b.jpg

The field corn is as high as a 3.5yr old human. Not bad.
34874339513_67bc28bac9_b.jpg

Time to cut some more meadow.
35296301800_5044912fab_b.jpg
35296301910_69a5f7e7a3_b.jpg

This is skipping a few steps but this is what I use to pick up the hay bales in the meadow. Everywhere else I use the skid loader but the meadow is essentially a bog with grass growing in it so the extra flotation of the tractor tires is nice to have.
35296302160_03d9c441be_b.jpg

The first field before I picked them up.
35296302310_22d5f53549_b.jpg

All loaded up ready to go home.
35296302460_36caed8bed_b.jpg

And when all was said and done I slammed my thumb in a door. This takes talent I tell you, talent ! !
35296302540_553b99b690_b.jpg

This is what I use to spray hundreds of acres multiple times a season with various chemicals that multiple GJ'ers have gotten into rather rambunctious internet brawls over. It is currently loaded up with a chemical called Enlist. Go ahead and hate on it all you want, I'm a big boy and can take it.

The corn looks good, we have only had 2" of rain since May 1st. Our field crops look dismal. July and August are our driest months. It does not look good for a fall harvest.

I have been selling an old roof I pulled off of a House we rehabbed for $10 a sheet and it is almost all gone. Craigslist is your friend.

Time for the pole to come out. Curl the bucket and out it'll come.
35520846332_7f1425c2d8_b.jpg

And it's down ! !
35520846512_8acea783f3_b.jpg

Another chunk of meadow to bale. Dad is raking this one with the 10 wheel cart rake. The purpose is two-fold, it combines the rows so we have to make fewer trips over the field with the baler and it moves the hay off the wet ground it's sitting on so it'll dry faster.
35520846782_0a070f3808_b.jpg
35520846972_28d8dc39b7_b.jpg

This is what I used on the wetter patches. It's a ground driven basket rake. Very lo-tech, the orange string pulls a lever that engages and disengages the rake. This style rake has been around for damn near 100 years in one form or another.

Lucky you dont have OCD. What with all the time you take to cut it down, put it into rows, bale it up, stack it out of the way. Now the paddock looks neat, next time you look down there it has grown again, ........get out the slasher.

That's funny. I usually take a smaller tractor that is lighter and mow all the rest down that we can't get at with the larger equipment. I don't think I have OCD but I do like things looking neat, especially when they're out by the road and others can see them ;+)

A cousin of ours has 400 acres of Canola, and he has to change the pattern everytime he goes over the fields. Orelse he sits and figits, then gets back out and goes over them again. The worst case i know was when he went back out at 2am because it just got to him.
I asume a bit like your feed shute, how long did you ponder over that?
Myself, i have pulled all the lights out of the back of a trailer i built because the wiring was not perfect. I know that no one would ever see it, but i knew!

The feed chute was thrown together rather quickly, hence why it broke. I usually over analyze things and build them in my head 10 times over before I start building anything. I went through 7 different barn plans before I decided on the one I built and I am glad I did because there are only a few minor things I'd change.

We got the hay baled last night.

Well today was the day the foundation for the grain bin got prepared. This is by far the largest hoe that's ever been on our place to date.
35520930772_6fd53df349_b.jpg

They had to dig out five feet on the high end and three feet on the low end to hit undisturbed ground. 30 loads of fill were brought in and packed down with one of those waffle maker pattern compactors. As I looked at the compactor all I could think about was how many rocks I could push down in the field :)
35559142421_d40aa30ea4_b.jpg

35559142521_8456a43013_b.jpg

And some more progress on the bus. I purchased some alum diamond plate to cover up the rear four windows on each side. $25 per 4x8 sheet ... not bad. They have water damage but are going to be painted over anyway so yay for me. Cut them in half and away we go ! !

Well the bin pad is ready to go. That tiny little white spot in the center is a 6' T-Post that is marking the center of the bin and WAS sticking 5' out of the ground. I didn't think this much dirt would have to be moved around but do it right the first time I guess.
35520952722_5002b61e86_b.jpg

I wish I would have taken a before shot but where the fill meets the black dirt there is over 6' added. Yikes. I'm going to have to figure something clever out for the discharge or haul more fill in maybe ....

I got the alum on the sides yesterday and put more on the rear windows today but didn't snap any of that so you'll have to be fine with these. It actually turned out pretty good and doesn't look bad at all. It got the wife's stamp of approval so it must be fine.

Well, I definitely won't be telling my buddy about these! He is so bad with "SHOTS" that he buys a bucket of 100 at a time. This would only encourage him. Have you got a picture tour of the bus? A lot of us would like to see.

Not quite sure what you mean by a picture tour but if you're after before/during/after construction photos I have lots :)

Here we are setup for the weekend. Blends in like an alligator at a crocodile party.

Six 1.25" thick ribeye's, four tenderloins, fried onions as well as potatoes and beans in the tinfoil. Everything was seasoned with course ground salt and pepper, which are the only things allowed on steak and potatoes under my watch. It doesn't get much better than this.

Yep, love your idea of "Blending in". Where did you get the BBQ tools and racks? I would love to get my hands on a set of them. The only thing I would have added to the steaks is a small dusting of garlic salt, just to keep the cold away.
