looking for a wide blade screw driver for the lower end screws, maybe something better than the standard

I used a bit and ratchet. Don't remember the size (no longer have have the boat)

Worked and fit easier than a screwdriver for me.

My outboards have lower ends with slotted/square head plugs. Not sure what make you have so maybe see if they still have the proper washer as well. I have found that replacing the plug every few years with new washer (plastic/brass/metal material per manufacturer spec) helps with keeping water out.
