Outdoor faucet flange options?

Hey everyone,

I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions for a flange for an outdoor faucet. Yes, I know this faucet is a mess. But it doesn't leak and hasn't leaked since my grandfather put it in 30 years ago. (My dad doesn't want me to cut it or anything...)

I think mice are getting in around here. What are my options here? I know I can cut it, and install a new faucet and a 1/2" floor plate flange. But I really don't want to do that. Especially since I know the 1/2" flanges won't be able to cover this hole. I know they make those snap flanges for 1/2" copper pipes. Is there anything else I can't think of? I was at Home Depot tonight and couldn't find a thing. There's also a sleeve I can use around the copper pipe before I put cement in there, right?

I did find a 2" floor plate flange. But I'd have to grind it in half and then jbweld it and then install it... and it'd still be weird looking...

This is the only decent set up I could find on the web:

Any advice you all could give me would be greatly appreciated!

Do you have access to the inside where you could solder a new joint inside ? You could use the part you linked but I wouldn't count on the tapcons to hold very much. This could be remedied with a larger aluminum flange (lets say 1/8" thick) and a larger bolt pattern for the tapcons. I would think about using Great Stuff pest-block or Solar Seal caulk. You could also improve longevity with a bent drip cap flashing that's "notched" into the mortar joint above with a masonry cutoff wheel, just as they would install on a chimney to flash it to the roof.

Great Stuff makes a foam that mice and rats cannot stand the taste of. It is great fo sealing small/midsize holes and will keep mice out where they have had lunch on previous foams. Its can is sorta green and Home Depot carries it but may not be in the insulation area with other foams. I found it in the Concrete isle and one here. Their website showed like 120 cans and they eventually found them. I would use the foam then a flange over it to make it attractive in the case of this faucet.

Thank you everyone for the suggestions! And thanks for letting me keep my grandfather's copper joints! :)

I was going to get some hydraulic cement for this so I'll definitely take out the old fill foam and fill with hydraulic cement. I need to put something around the pipe before filling it with cement, right? I could've sworn I read somewhere that you shouldn't put cement against copper pipes...

I do have access to the pipe inside...I will fill the inside cavity with the mouse-proof.

I found a bunch of flanges and escutcheons.

But I don't see one that has a 1/2" inner diameter and a 5"+ outer diameter. Do those exist? Also, these fancy chrome-plated ones, they will probably tarnish if exposed to the elements, no?

On another note, I can't believe Home Depot and Lowes only carries Chinese made freeze-proof faucets... Sheesh...

All of mine are set in hydraulic cement -- family shore house is 50 years old. I would not worry about the cement. We unscrew the hose bib for winter -- but the pipe is original.

They make hose bibs with the flange -- you screw them onto the mail citing after cement -- the flange covers the patch.

Same with the freeze proof
