Wiring and what not looks right, but I would lose the copper wire to the vise and use re-bar tie wire. A couple of bucks a roll at any big box store. The copper linking the rebar anodes is fine to use as it's not going into the soup.

For the water/solution - Washing soda or Spa/pool chem PH +, I use the latter maybe 1/4 cup per 5 gallons.

Charger: does it have a transformer or is it Solid State? (light = SS heavy = Transformer inside:

SS may need a battery in parallel for it to "see" a load. at least one guy got the anode and cathodes close but not touching and got his to "see" the load and once going it kept going so you can try that.

Suggestion: the long walls of the that type of tank tend to bow out? so if you put the wood on those side and the "bridged" the short direction (you would need to re-drill 2 holes), and then screwed them together, it would help hold those sides together.

That's the same charger that I use on my setup. It works fine.
That looks like a recycling bin or something similar, which should be stronger at the sides than your typical rubbermaid storage tub. Looks good. Fire it up and post the results!

Outlaw is right on about the tie wire, I got better results when I switched from copper to tie wire.

Nice job on the setup. Mine is very similar in that I use wood, although I do use more electrodes (rebar). I use rebar wire as well as everyone has suggested.

One thing I'll add. If you intend to use the rebar again, take advantage of the holes in the wood to clean off the sludge that has developed. Slide them up and down in there to help scrape off the gunk, hit them quick with a wire brush, then I coat with some WD40 after rinsing.

Good Luck

That was intended for cleanup after you are finished, tons of **** will form on your rebar.. Just a clean up tip. Your stuff is fine. I've reused my rebar until they're been completely eaten

:+1: on using what you have. the first session will have them looking worse that they do right now. The 1/4" thick steel plates I've been using s anodes look about 200 years old...

I just built one tonight. Im using mine to clean the brake calipers for my 68 mustang. Its only been running a couple hours and the nasty sludge on top blew my mind and the amount of bubbles coming off it surprised me.
