Good morning, my wife, son and I had a house built over last winter and moved in over spring. We had a wood burning fireplace put in in the living room. It was suppose to be set up or possibly come with a blower fan to help circulate the air. Well there isnt one there and it appears the electricians just ran a wire to under the fireplace but never installed a outlet. probably just got over looked and i didnt notice it till after we had moved in. Im pretty good at electrical so not a big deal to install one but i wasnt sure what exactly to put under there or where to mount it. It doesnt appear to have any cut outs to install a outlet so i wasnt sure if i need to put a box in somewhere. Im sure it would have to be metal to handle the heat. Any information or direction on this would be great!!! Thank you in advance!!!

the fireplace is a majestic sovereign SA42C. i attached a picture i found on my phone.

You should probably have the manufacturer's specs and directions for their fan kit and make-up air kit to know where and how to wire it. There's probably, at the very least, a knockout somewhere in the unit, maybe even a built-in box. I haven't seen any fireplaces that were extension cord plug-ins.

I have an older Royal gas fireplace that looks very similar to yours. I assume you have all the other parts for the fan kit.
You just need a 120VAC junction box installed in the lower vent space. The metal cabinet should have some electrical knockouts in it or an electrical access hole.
Just install the junction box wherever it is convenient following your local electrical code. The fireplace metal cabinet, blower, and J-box should be grounded.

it has a push through type spot for electrical wire but nothing for a box. i will just mount a metal box underneath there out of the way of the fan or sight and call it a day.. Thanks guys. I was making it more complicated than it needed to be.
