Outlet with GFCI or AFCI protection for solid state auto drain valve?

I clearly remember reading that either a gfci or afci outlet should be used for auto drain valves for compressors that have solid state circuitry in them. I can't remember which. Anyone know for sure ?

It’s probably because GFCI is required in a garage for 120v receptacles.
