Hi and happy holidays. I have decided to try LED for a light in my barn. Great Value brand from Walmart. Didn't work at all. Returned and got a daylight 5000 color temperature GE 60 watt equivalent. Bright to look at but doesn't throw out much useable light.
I would like to use a timetable timer and this LED outside lamp.

I have a mercury vapor light now.
Anyone have experience with this?

I switched to all led lights. For outdoors I have 2 like the one you pictured. The old ones I feel were brighter but the extra savings is worth wile. The other lights, post lamps and doorway lights are a little brighter.
I was sick of fixing light bulbs, and we'll see how these led ones hold up.

The mercury vapor bulb and light sensor has been in faithful service since I have lived here 26 years ago. I want to use this new light fixture with this programmable Honeywell RPLS740B. I currently have plenty of light.

I installed the programable switch that artieb mentioned and it works great. Will likely be adding another to my house to run the outdoor lighting.

100 watt
or
150 watt

I purchased a programmable solar timer, and these fixtures use a photo eye dusk to dawn light sensor, I couldn't turn them on in the daytime.
what you all think?

that 150 watt really looks like the ticket !! now,I need to find somebody to install it for me,as I don't like heights, and it is 20 feet up on my building!!!

Where are you guys buying your outdoor LED bulbs? I'm looking to eventually replace a lot of 18w 12v wedge bulbs.

I have been about everywhere, including a couple of specialized lighting places.
Nothing I like in yard lights. Also when I was there I looked at 4' LED shop lights, and nothing close to the 39.00 lights that Home Depot had and are now, unavailable.

We picked up a couple of dusk to dawn led lights to replace our yard light mercury vapor lights. Awesome light, electric meter slowed way down. Got them at Sams club. Honeywell brand about $50 each if I recall.

Lots of junky led outdoor residential fixtures out there now since everyone is associating it with cheaper running cost. Standard mv, mh, and hps fixtures are ballasted and repairable. Many of these led prices I have seen are throw aways. Just something to keep in mind because the driver only has such a service life. I have a utility pole next to my barn and I tried a Rab yard blaster and it was terrible.

I returned it due to the terrible light output grid at the recommended height. I only Mention this becase most the battle with the led fixtures is the reflector or lack there of.

I ended up buying a Cooper led fixture with a large add on reflector that was expensive even at cost but it lights the area very well.http://www.cooperindustries.com/con..._855683.solutions.lighting!led!area_site.html
