Hello all, new member here and have an outside lighting question. I want to install light fixtures in an unenclosed but roofed side shed on my pole barn. These fixtures will be 10+ feet above the ground. Do I need weather proof (resistant) units? Will they need to be gfci protected in either case? Thanks for your replies in advance.

I'm no expert but I'm guessing they need to be on a GFCI protected circuit and I think you would want them to be rated for use outside even if they are covered. Plenty of moisture outside even if they are not directly getting rained on.

Welcome aboard! You are in the right place for questions and answers.

First I'll chime in and suggest pictures and location! We love pictures, and we like to know if we are dealing with occasional rain or 12 feet of snow.

Enjoy your stay.
