First post, this is a really neat site. I have one thing I am kinda proud of when I built my 24x30 2 story garage. I hate motion lights, cause every dog or passerby makes them go off, sometimes even tree branches, and its windy here, in Alberta. I wanted to wire the outside lights in the alley to come on with my garage door opener, its really dark backing out into the alley in the winter here. The overhead door guy told me not to do it, that it would burn the board out in my door opener, because they are only designed for a small bulb or two. I went and
bought a small relay, and plugged it into the door opener, cost me $30.00 and it runs 4 75 watt bulbs in the alley, and 4 more down the side of the garage. It can be adjusted to stay on with the door opener, so its set for long enough to light up everything in the yard for 4 minutes while I carry groceries into the house. (My wife insists on parking in my workshop all winter long). This system really works nice, I'd recommend it to everyone. John Van Oostenbrugge Lethbridge, AB Canada

I failed to mention in my original post, that when my buddy wired up my outside lights, he hooked them up to the relay from the door opener, but also hooked the alley lights on one switch, and the side lights on another switch so I can turn them on manually and leave them on for as long as I want to. The nights are long here in the winter. JVO
