I want to put an outside outlet on my pole building. I have the outside box with the cover. Does this need to be a GFCI or at least fed by one? Thanks

It's supposed to be GFCI protected. The GFCI can be inside or outside. It's also supposed to be a WR receptacle outside whether it's a GFCI or a traditional duplex.

Besides GFCI protection, WR receptacle, a bubble cover is prob. required also, spend a few extra coins for a cast one, over plastic.

If you have access to the inside use one of these, nice clean finish on the outside! I have 4 on the outside of my barn, three on the corners and one in the soffit for xmas lights.

Our electrician used these on my house, I really like them. I hadn't seen them until he showed up with them.
