I prefer Wiley X prescription safety glasses that wrap around instead of having side shields. They also have a foam gasket that seal to your face so they can serve as googles. I use the Curve Model.

For faceshield I prefer the UVEX Bionic.

I wear prescription glasses with chemistry class style goggles with "anti-fog" over them for things like weedwhacking or following a cut line. The safety glasses don't keep things out. If I'm using an angle grinder, I add the face shield. I prefer to mitigate as much risk as possible for shrapnel in my eyes, so the extra inconvenience is worth it to me.

I was working on a vacuum cleaner that had some sort of spring mechanism to get to the underside to clear out some debris. When I was trying to get it removed, the spring mechanism failed and it shot a piece of metal at my eye and knocked my glasses clear off my head and left a huge divot in my glasses. I feel fortunate to not have lost an eye that day.

You only get one pair of eyes, they are not replaceable.

Eye protection generally inexpensive and easily replaced; you now get to decide what is more important; eye protection or risking your vision.

I wear prescription glasses full-time (not safety shield type) and they're way more protection than anyone who doesn't wear glasses at all.

I go for the full face shield when more protection is needed.

Get prescription safety glasses you won’t regret it. Be aware when choosing fitment as some flatter prescriptions will bow the frames out making them loose on your head. I have safety glasses, and motorcycle riding glasses. My Wiley are super clear and fit perfect

Here’s one on Amazon that gets good reviews.

I can see roughly two feet from the end of my nose, all my close up work is done with goggles after my last bout with something like this.

Story time:

I was grinding on an inner fender and I felt something hit my cheek, then into my eye.....sunday. Hurt like hell. Monday go to eye Dr. and he digs out the shard. And yes digs is the correct word. As he told me your eye is always making new layers so it was below the surface of the eye.

Now I goggle every time I do anything when shards may come my way. I am a bit lazy around the drill press, but I do work to change that bad habbit.

I have an old pair of Dewalt goggles and they work ok, but are hard on glasses.

I suggest if you have an old pair use those for the shop if they are not too different from your current pair.

After that the only one set of eyes really hit me.
