Over Head door main board swap

I have an old unit, the logic board is dead. Was wondering if anyone has put in a newer style board to an older unit? the replacement board is NLA so was just gonna find one that matched up best i could and wire it in.

look on ebay for a used board. You may find one cheap.

My Chamberlin has neither it's original main or I/O board.
The main was to replace a blown board
(Lightening)
The I/O swap was to update the radio
Both came from curbside donors

It is a Liftmaster T501IL and the board has Version 2 on it, On Ebay are only new and I'm not up for buying used with this unit. I figured it could be the same as swapping out the tower of a computer, the monitor, mouse, keyboard, and such all connect and operate the same, just a different manufacturer.
