Hi all. Yet another new user who needs help with a garage problem.
I have a 12 foot wide by 18 foot tall Overhead Door brand aluminum sectional door with a rather nondescript motor on it that does not specify what type of opener it is. I want to add a radio receiver to it but I'm not sure which one to get. The cheaper, the better. There is a diagram on the cover that states I need a 3-wire receiver and if it matters, it has a 3-button control device. I only need one remote for it as well. If possible, I want to try and get away with using my home garage transmitter which is Genie brand. Both doors do not use any sort of coding technology

Also, for anyone concerned about safety, my door has an auto stop/reverse air line

First things first, figure out what the control circuit is running (manufacturer name would help here - even a pic would help). Could be 110 or 24vac, or 24 or 5vdc, if I recall most genie receivers take 24vac but don't play well with others...

Then its as simple as 3 connections and a couple button presses... or it could be way more involved...

Hi Mishael, They use rolling code technology, Genie's is intellecode, not sure if they have a universal receiver, i've never used one. for external radio controls I usually use Multi- Elmac.

I think this control will work with your opener.
