Hey guys been a while since i have been on here. Gonna build a 32x30 garage in the back yard. Here's the plan:

32' wide by 30' deep
gonna put a 2 post lift in
10' walls with sissor rafters on half of the garage

What size and location should put my overhead doors? Will be putting overhead and walk through doors on the 32' side.

9x16 and 9x9 ?
2 9x12 ?

any ideas????

Thanks
matt

When I did my OH door I went with a single wide door. My Building is 30' wide and I centered a 12'W door . The door I installed was a Overhead Door Brand Rolling Steel door model # 620 . It was a lil more $$$ over a sheet door or a sectional door, but I feel its a better choice for security and durability. I've seen several "sheet doors" and "sectional garage" doors pushed in and opened, so I opted to spend more on a single door.

If you have a pickup truck, you will appreciate having a door at least 10ft wide.
If you can put the walk thru door on the 30ft wall, install two 12ft overhead doors on the 32ft wall.

I'm 32 deep by 48 wide and installed two 12' Wide x 10' High insulated doors. Was initially going to go with 10' Wide doors but opted for the 12'. Love the extra width, can get lots of stuff in or out without having to move a vehicle.

Our detached garage is 35 wide and we have 2x12' I wanted extra room between My truck and her car so there is 7' between the doors

One of the mistakes I made on my building was to get the door to close to the sidewall. If you can move the door as far away from the side wall as you can, 4' or better.

I would go with two 12's. at least 4' from each side which would leave you 8' in between the doors for either your man door or storage area. or put your man door in one of the 4' openings. figure out what you may want to place between the doors before deciding on offsets
