I am getting ready to install 3 new garage doors and was wondering if anyone has improved on the slotted angle iron brackets that they screw to the ceiling to hold the ends of the track up. Looking for something a little more eye appealing then the standard set up.

It would be cool to make temporary ones out of slotted angle to get everything right, then duplicate them with a nice welded structure with a decent paint job. Square or even round tubing would look good. The 80/20 would be a good look, too.

Just went to that 80/20 page, you'll spend a fortune using that system, I'd fab it out of square tubing and paint it pretty. :)

80/20 looked like great stuff, but I would need an engineer to design it for me first. Square tubing sounds like a great idea. I can get the plastic caps for the ends, hide the mounting lags inside and cover the access holes with plugs and then powder coat.-----

If you are planning on finishing the ceiling.

Easy, cheap, and looks really awesome (if I do say so, myself):

Hang the ends off of 2x4's....

Sister a second 2x4 to the original 2x4....

Cover the now 4x4 with vinyl deck post covers....

Glue on a trim piece at the ceiling, and a cap on the "bottom:...
