My parents door was on order for 6 weeks.

My door has been on order since last year, I can say that now. I ordered and paid for it on October 19th.

I ordered an Amarr last week and they are 3+ months out from factory. Longer if you get custom color. Overhead Door in town wouldn't pick up phone or return call, so assume the same or worse for them.

I had a guy ask me if I could install one for him, his was damaged in the big derecho we had in august. He had a contractor lined up since September to do roof and garage door but contractor kept telling him door was back ordered. We went to menards and got a 16x7 white door that week and I threw it up for him and made a quick 600 bucks. He got an insulated door and still was cheaper then the price the other contractor quoted him for an un insulated door installed. Menards had plenty in stock. May not be as nice of quality as some others, it was an ideal brand, but seemed decent and he was happy he could use his garage again.

I had recently had two Hormann garage doors installed 12x12 and a 10x10 with 1 panel of glass in each, 4+ week lead time to get them in. Some of the companies were quoting 5-6+ weeks. Nice doors, one panel had some shipping damage but was useable. Installed and waiting on a replacement panel. 3 weeks so far. I knew of the lead time from talking to the installing company and ordered them in enough time for when we were ready for them.

I was just quoted 6-8 weeks for a pair of standard Haas doors (versus what the dealer said would have been a "normal" 3 weeks), due to "supply chain" issues. Glad I'm ordering them when I *don't* need them pronto...

IMHO, Too many things are being blamed on the pandemic. What happened to the “Let’s just get it done attitude?
Agreed. My wife was ordering something online yesterday. She commented that they had a disclaimer about shipping times. I said, yep, seems to me that is standard procedure now-have a disclaimer so it can be pointed to if anyone complains. But it's funny, I haven't had any shipping time problems at all and neither has she.

The place I ordered mine from also said demand is nuts.

If you close down China for a few weeks, the chain is going to get outta whack for a while. Throw in some weather events, a few tariffs, more people shopping online bogging down shippers, etc etc

I can't complain.. gotta a door presently. Lots of builders out there who can't get their new homes on the market because they cant get signed off due to no garage door.. not that it would do much for curb appeal anyways.

I work for a garage door service, installation company. I personally have been off work for the majority of last year homeschooling my kids, adding to the lack of available labor in our industry.

I still do help with receiving doors at our shop, and all of the companies are behind. What I am being told is that there is an increased demand and lack of manpower. Most are about 6 weeks out right now, where it used to be just two weeks lead time.

We are having a big problem with getting damaged sections. Because of the rush to fulfill orders, quite a few of the doors have damage or something incorrect on them, then it can be another 6 weeks to get the replacements.

Going to use this as a chance to vent just a bit. If you get a damaged door, the manufacturer will take care of it, and send a replacement. Unfortunately, most times they are not paying the installers to do the job twice. It *****, and we understand, but please don't take it out on the installers if your door is damaged from the manufacturer. Yes, if you throw a big enough fit we can call in some favors and try to get the replacements rushed, but then they can end up being worse than the original damaged sections (a rushed job is never a good job), and things spiral out of control from there. It is important to be patient right now, we will do everything we can to make it right.

My garage went up this summer. The first set of overhead doors we ordered were cancelled by the manufacturer after being ordered for a month. The second set from a different manufacturer took around 3 months for delivery.

Lots of damage from clopay on the commercial side. All still functional and they are good on sending replacement sections, just takes for ever. My biggest gripe is sending half orders. We will get sections and half the track for a job 1 week, 2 weeks later springs and hopefully the rest of the order shows up. Its crazy

Competing against unemployment checks is a real things. Most door manufacturers are 6 weeks out. Sometimes even when we start making headway, a supplier will have issues that gives it all right back. It *****, and we are doing everything we can, but you can't run a plant without people and materials. Trust me, manufacturers do not like this any more than the customers.

Quoted six weeks. Actually took 10. New Haas 2" doors installed this week. So much nicer than the old fiberboard doors...

Lots of issues right now with shipping of stuff from overseas. The port of Los Angeles a container ship waits out at sea an average of a week. Once a ship does get unloaded there is a shortage of trucks to haul the containers if going local. If the ship is delayed a week here it means it can't go back for another load as quickly.

I just bought some tires for my converted bus. The tire dealer said there is a national shortage of tires in my size, but luckily he had the tires I wanted in stock.

Just saying...shouldn't the installers check for defects in the doors before putting them in. (I know they come 'boxed' so I can see why a Q.C. at the installers warehouse might not catch defective panels).

I asked the installers why the Overhead Door in this town ***** so bad. You have to beg them to make a door sale. He said it's run so poorly, they max out their credit with Overhead who then stops shipping product. The result is they don't pick up the phone or return calls because they can't get doors due to their own stupidity.

So when someone blames coid for delays that may very well be true, but there may also be more to it.

And as usual I went to the garage door repair barrie located and at Fix Garage Doors CA arranged for the repair work

I had a guy ask me if I could install one for him because his was damaged in the August derecho. He had a contractor lined up to do the roof and garage door since September, but the contractor kept telling him the door was back ordered. We went to Menards that week and bought a 16x7 white door, which I installed for him and made a quick 600 dollars. He got an insulated door and still paid less than the other contractor quoted him for an uninsulated door installation.
