OVerhead Reznor

Can an overhead Reznor forced air furnace fueled by natural gas be operable on a tilted back stance? Or does it have to be close to level?? Furnace woud be going into my soon to be built 9' working garage at the front flanked by cabinets and underneath would be either workbench or the tool box. Why I ask would be to create more headroom and if tilted back, it would blow the air down more towards the general work space.

Other question I have, is how much airspace would be needed around the furnace?? 6-12"???? Closer to 6" on the sides and 12" off the wall all good?

Generally, the units need to be level to operate. It should have adjustable louvers to dirct the airflow as you want it. The installation manual specifies how much free space is required around it. I believe (?) my hot dawg needed a foot on each side.

Got this thing used, been operating GREAT in my folks shop for the past 3 years, its going with me when I move all my stuff from there to a new to me shop.

Guess its internet search time to see what the free space required. A foot all around wouldnt bother me one bit. Level is fine, it still will clear my head despite being smack dab in the middle of the work space.

The Hot Dawg only needed a min of an inch on the top, and a foot on the sides. If yours is similiar that might help your clearance issue. The Reznor website looks to have a very thorough online manual/media section. Good luck with your new shop space.

I was just at the garage last night, always thought I had a Reznor but its turned out to be a ITT Grinnell Excello is what the label says on the front. I think the Reznor site would be a good reference to follow off of, cant seem to find nuttin on the net about the furnace I have.

Lookin more and more like I will be gettin scissor trusses in the new place, local to me guy says his were 5 bucks cheaper by going direct to the truss place than Home Depot etc.

I sure hope that I do get the scissor trusses in with my budget allowed. This would allow me better lighting options, as well beign able to stick the furnace up higher to the point I wont worry about whackin my noggin on it. especially with the 8.75-9' walls I plan to have.
