Overkill for outside shop light?

Hi all. Long story short, I demo'd a convenience store/gas station. In the process, I cabbaged on to a couple of wall packs with the idea I would use them for outside lighting on my shop. I live in the country and it's pretty dark. I've been reading some of the threads on lighting, and am starting to wonder if this would be too much...? 90W, 8000 lumen, 5000K. If I use this, I would place it near the eave, centered on the front garage door (approx 16ft high). It would be facing the main drive into my property.

Anyone that has been down this road or has suggestions would be greatly appreciated! I don't have to use it, but hey, free is free!

Wire it up temporarily up on a ladder as high as you can to actual position. Just stick a plug on it. It will give you a good look at final result. I find lights very so much this is easier then going through the whole install and it not being enough or too much

90W is a lot of LED light. Still, it's hard to overdo it. It's not like you'll need sunblock when this is on.

I don't think that will be too bright. It is a good amount 8000 lumens/90w, you might actually find it's not enough, depending on what you want to do in that area after dark.

I have a 65' x 320' foot lot and put a 6000-lumen 50-watt flood on the back of my shed about 14' high, to light the backyard at night when I'm airing my dogs.

It lights 65' x 100' area no problem.

I have about 8 that size around my shop...and in a couple of trees to flood the drive area...they are all about 20' +\- up...works great. Turns night into day!

It really depends on how much area you want/can light.

I know a guy that had a 1000 watt metal halide flood (110,000 lumens) mounted on a pole outside his shop's exterior.

He removed, not because it produced too much light, but it cost too much to run.

I think the flood out at the shop back door is either a 500 watt halogen or a 250 watt?
Either way, it doesn't get turned on too often.
BUT!
When its needed out there for loading or unloading, you can never be too bright!

I put up a couple 90's at work in the service lane. Building is about 10' from the driveway and they are mounted in the 16' area. They light up the area real well. Mine have a good cutoff and don't wash the neighbouring condo's in light. Good for my application but for a real flood not so good more like a narrow flood. My own personal pref would have been a couple 50's but somebody else made the output decision.

I would think the more light you have to illuminate the area the better off you would be. Several people who live out of town around here have "dusk to dawn" lights and they are quite bright and illuminate the whole area around their home.
