Is there a good way to overlap steel j channel about my garage door. Menards doesnt stock 16ft pieces so I woukd have to custom order a piece so was hoping g to avoid that if possible

I'm assuming you are talking metal siding J channel.

Go to Google or YouTube and search "how to install metal J channel" and within a few videos there should be one showing you how to peel open the hem and cut the pieces

Yes aluminim siding j. Ill have to look again. Everything i was seeing was for j that has a hem. I dont belive mine has that

Pictures would be helpful.

Maybe look at how vinyl J trim is done

I guess there is a small hem. Didn't think there was one
