Well, maybe it wasn't quite as bad as it seemed, but it was pretty close. When I bought the house, the garage was just plain drywall with barely a tape job done, and holes cut into it in places where apparently the previous homeowner found a leaky pipe. Bare concrete floor with a kickwall. A couple light fixtures. Looked like a dog had been kept out there, the trim and weatherstripping around the door and stairs themselves were all chewed up. Oh, and it featured a whopping two outlets with a full breaker box. Garage size is about 300 sq ft, BTW.

Sorry, no before pictures. In hindsight I would have.

I learned a LOT from reading and asking questions here, and armed with that -- I got started.

I opened up the drywall and ran extra electrical. Added 5 outlets to the walls (total of 7 now), and another on the ceiling for my drop light and extension. All GFI 20amp circuit of course. I also ran 2 30amp circuits, for an electric heater on the ceiling and for my air compressor. I also took the time to run the wires for the garage door opener sensors, door opener switch, doorbell transformer, and anything else that was there, all behind the drywall. Then I closed up the drywall again. Taped and Mudded, then textured the drywall. Primed and then painted the drywall with Kitchen and Bath paint (white ceiling and gray walls). I used a concrete stain on the kickwalls (dark gray) and then I did the floor with Racedeck (dark gray). I installed 6 4-foot double bulb T-8 fixtures for lighting. It's not my dream garage, but I figured if I'm here I might as well enjoy it!

Here's a couple pictures. You can see my heater hung in the corner, and my drop light and extension cord, and even my hang up shop-vac, but still no shelving or much else back up. Also still need to finish the stairs.

It's the first garage I have owned -- and I'm proud of it! Thanks GJ!

Great work so far. But, you are just starting the makover... Don't see any work bench or tools yet! RaceDeck looks great.

Thanks guys.

I did this with help from my father, my girlfriend, and another friend at work who had some experience with drywall. Lots of time on GJ was my best tool!

And yes, I do have to setup a work bench, shelves, etc. in here. I will take more pics as I continue.

Looks really nice. You should be proud of that space and the work you did.
