I am remodeling my garage shop. I have a 2 car garage and only 1 car. Garage is 24 deep and 24 wide. I plan on building a wall across the back wall of the garage creating a closet 4 feet deep. I will leave 2 opening 96 inches wide so that I can slide my cabinet say (72W) and my workbench (69W) out into center of garage. Both are on casters and garage floor is cement.

My problem is to source heavy duty hardware for (4) bifold door panels that each measure 24 wide. These panels will probably be light hollow core panelled doors from HD or Lowes. Door height TBD but probably about 85 inches.

My web seach shows that both Johnson HW and Hasbro Co sell the track and door HW. Hasbro appears to have heavier duty mechanism. Any body been there and done that? Please make suggestions much appreciated.

Once this closet is built, I plan on installing Race Deck flooring. Closet company quoted me $4.50 sq ft installed. If I do it myself, what should I expect to pay? Any problems to be expected from wheeling 400lb cabinet saw out onto the Race Deck floor.........will I want casters bigger than 3 inch?

Will your car fit with 4 1/2' of space used up at the back of the garage? Don't know what you are driving but that was my first thought...
Maybe go with slider doors? Much easier to install and that will give you a true 8' opening.

With the "now" short garage there will be no room for storing things on the walls with the car in there so the sliders won't take up wall space when open.
You could also hang them inside the closet to free up space on the outside wall.
