My brother just gave me a pair of OTC 8" slip jaw pliers.

I can tell from looking at these pliers that they were made by Diamond Tool and Horseshoe Company of Duluth, Minnesota, and marked for Owatonna Tool Company.

Here's a 1930 No. 9 junior flex set. 1930 ( I'm dating it from the distinctive breaker with the pinned socket/ t-bar adapter and a catalog from the tool archives site...thanks Todd) is pretty early for 3/8" drive sets and this OTC one has some pretty slick looking sockets compared to it's contemporaries.

Great early set mrx. Reminds me of the early blackhawk 3/8 sockets, with the stepped base and tapered top.

Yes an 820. Have a few others in that style but don't come across them much.

Oldtuleguy posted a photo of an OTC logo a couple of weeks ago and another member suggested that he change the C to a G. Just for fun, I downloaded the photo and doctored it.



Yesterday I found a box of my own, but the logo is a little bit different.



When I was a kid, we drove from Iowa up highway 35 to the family cabin in Minnesota and we went right through Owatonna, so I feel slightly sentimental about their tools. I was pretty excited to find this box. These photos are from before I washed it, but it really doesn't look much different, aside from the lack of oily dust in the drawers. That's okay. It matches the rest of the stuff in my shop.









It came with the latch, but no key. No tray. I removed all the drawers and cleaned/lubed the glides. This note was under the bottom drawer. It appears to be a to-do list for a 1960 Ford.

Everybody knows that CRTDI uses his time machine to go back and buy kits new from the dealer. The real question is how he gets the Silver Certificates so as to not be trying to pass modern money back then!

The top two pullers are oTc. (The bottom one is a lowly K-D). I found them on consecutive trips to the same store. It is funny how things that most likely came from the same place can get put out separately. They're not nearly as pretty to look at as those socket sets!

Otc made alot of great pullers. Still use my otc axle bearing pullers at work.

I have this puller set, but I don't think it qualifies as vintage, based on the packaging. I'll share it anyway, just for the fun of it.

An old Owatonna farm wrench. Vintage unknown to me. Looks like a lot of the original finish is still intact.

Interesting find.
Not the same "Owatonna" as the "OTC" Owatonna.
Completely different company. Looks like they started up in 1885, originally making agricultural implements.
