Oxy/Acetylene gauge question

My tanks are 250/420 I think. They belonged to my grandfather on his farm. I inherited them. The gauges that came with them were old and I don't trust them so I tossed them.

I don't know enough about guages to know what I need. I have large tips that will cut through at least 3" steel. I will NEVER need that capacity, but I have the tips. Most I see myself cutting is maybe 1". I want a decent set, but I'm also not an industrial shop needed the very best. It won't get used even on a monthly basis. I'm just a shade tree mechanic/hobbyist/fabricator.

Any help is appreciated.

Your local gas supplier will have the right set to sell you. Start building that relationship, you're going to be spending some money there...

sounds like your grandfather did major work. too bad you tossed them, you could have probably had them re built for not much money, and had a keepsake .
He was a farmer. Of the generation that fixed everything themselves

Unless those guages were junk I would have looked at getting them rebuilt.

Most that old stuff is way better than today’s junk

Those gauges were probably around during the Eisenhower administration. They were in horrible condition. Had I thought they were rebuildable I'd have tried to salvage them. I still have all his torches and hope to rebuild those. But those gauges were very rough.

I'm restoring the cart he built and already restored the Craftsman welding/cutting box he had.

There was a similar thread a few weeks ago. The HF ones I have are fine, and they still have good reviews online today. I'd look at what your LWS has to offer, but keep in mind that a lot of the name brand stuff today may also be from China and no better than HF at twice the price.

I have these new in the box that need a new home. Firepower is the brand name. I got them from NAPA and don’t know how good they are but I will sell them cheap. $75 shipped for the pair, not each.

I have this set. There's a set on Amazon Warehouse for $250 like new.
