recently swapped out a tank, an the local welding supply was really busy. the store manager came out looked at the tank, and started whining about the collar tag. saying he had to go an look up the company to verify if still in business, an if so he had to refuse service. if out of business he could swap no issues
he goes in and few minutes later comes out an tells me they are still in business out in Idaho. which I knew was total BULL as the company was semi local to me back where I grew up in the Midwest. So I call an talk to the company which took a 30 seconds of google work. called them up an they told me they sold there gas divison to Airgas, and they are required to handle customer own tanks as part of there sales contract.
Took the tank to Airgas told them the rough history, they do a check in there computer, and swap the tank out for a slick neck cylinder.
