Oxygen Regulator Fittings

A couple months ago I picked up a pair of Victor regulators at a yard sale, and have been piecing together an oxy-fuel torch setup. When I got home, I noticed that the regulator I thought was for oxygen said "inert gas" on it, and it had an inlet fitting that fit on a co2 tank. The output fitting fits an oxygen hose though, so who knows. Last week I found a Blue Point oxygen regulator on eBay and bought it. Still didn't have a cylinder at the time so I just sat it aside. Today I found a killer deal on a complete, but really old oxy-propane setup. Got it home and discovered the hoses and regulators were shot (didn't even try the hoses, they were badly rotted.) Tried my new Blue Point regulator and it's got the same damn co2 fitting as the other regulator. So now I own 5 regulators (3 "oxygen" and 2 fuel gas) and still don't have a working setup. I figure I can change out the inlet fitting on either the Victor or Blue Point regulator. Do I need to change out both the ****** and nut, or can I just change the nut? And is it safe to use an inert gas regulator for oxygen?

It is not safe to use an inert gas regulator on oxygen. It is also not safe to change the inlet fitting on an oxygen regulator. These things need to be "oxygen" clean. As much oil as contained in a FINGERPRINT on the high pressure oxygen side can easily cause an explosion.

Can you provide pictures of what you've got?

Also have this Linde regulator that came with the set I bought today. I hooked it up but it wouldn't register any pressure on the high side, got worried about it possibly failing and took it off.

Better to buy a used set with everything then trying to piece one together, in the long run it's going to cost more money. I had my regs rebuilt over 16 years ago. Went away, came back and tried to use them 6 years after the rebuild and they were leaking. Rebuild again, another 6 years go by before I use them again and its bad again. Now I need to send them in for another rebuild. Everytime I have to rebuild them it cost me a 100 each to have them rebuild locally.

Buy used with owner owned tanks and make sure it's all working.

Oh BTW, don't use inert gas regs with oxygen, you don't where those regs been.

Just wanted to post my results in case someone in the future finds this thread. Ordered the proper fittings for the Blue Point regulator for about $15, and managed to not blow myself up. I thought the tank pressure gauge wasn't working at first, but it turns out the "full bottle" I bought was actually empty. Oh well, I only paid $20 for the bottle, and was able to exchange it at the local gas supplier for $25 for a full tank plus a $20 hydro fee. This means that the Linde regulator that came with the bottle might be good after all. Anyway, now I can melt some ****
