Hello members. I'm looking into building a small deck and thinking of using a product called Oz-Post instead post hole digging and cement. The Oz-Post is a heavy duty galvanized tapered post which is sold in different lengths depending on their use. Fences, poles, decks. They get pushed hammered into the ground thru a galvanized plate which is 12" inch square. Has anyone used this system. Any thoughts , concerns or opinions on this product. Oz-Post states you can free float decks with their product and max is up to 8 feet. My deck will only be two feet off ground. I'm going to check building codes in my town.

I used a similar no name post, not for a deck but for one fence post I needed to replace. It worked OK.
For a deck, it would be easier than digging for posts and think it should be good. Personally, I have a 22 x 12 deck which I have the posts just floating on the ground, even easier than digging or hammering these posts. Also less chance of problems with freezing ground.

Ah Ok... for posts but I've never seen a structure built with them...

I have seen video of this system and it is VERY IMPRESSIVE !
First, check with the local authorities and se if it will pass inspection.
Second, hand driving them could wear you out quickly and you need a special adapter to drive them with a jack hammer.
Third, when driving, stop several times and use a post level to make sure they are plumb in all directions.

Ah Ok... for posts but I've never seen a structure built with them...
They make special "plates" for soft soil.
In the end, it is up to the inspector.
