I myself thought the same thing. However I firmly believe in that same general rule of thumb, usually largest and smallest examples will command premiums, thought it wouldn't hurt to ask.

But the 5 items I did get including a Plomb tack hammer only set me back $10, so I came in at half budget!

$30, and I budgeted myself $20. When I tried to haggle I got shot down.

I live close to where the factory was in Oregon and I have never seen one in the wild or in person for that matter. That is to much for that hammer! If it was mint with its original blue handle octagonal grip wood handle, I would pay that but not for a user . I would top out at $15 but then again I paid a you **** amount for my p&c toolmobile [emoji23]

Smoke that is one of the Plomb/Proto specialty drivers I have found over the years:

A reamer, a long bit driver and the 3/8 socket spinner you like.

That 3/8 driver is cool. I have a wood handle hand and a half, almost double fisted 3/8 driver, but I'm not sure it's factory. The driver shank has a SO marking peaking out of the rather extensive ferrule.

None of the three are factory. I found the bit driver at a junk shop, it was originally a Phillips by the model number, but someone replaced that with a square shaft and an Apex bit holder from the right vintage. The reamer is a handle I found with a file in it, so I put a spare reamer I had. The socket spinner was a screwdriver with a badly messed up blade, so I drove out the pin in the cap, put a 1/4 bit socket driver, and bobs your uncle. Two are Proto LA, with the blue stripe, and the red stripe is Plomb.

That makes sense... I had never seen those and thought maybe you found some rare tools from when you lived down south!

I responded to a CL ad for a misc socket set with s-k ratchet, Craftsman sockets & spinner, and misc "p & k" sockets.

For $20, I bought this P & C 100 socket set, sans ratchet, along with a rare Craftsman flex spinner, a vintage s-k ratchet, and complete with the original decal on the socket box!

Two things to share today. The first came off the basement shelf at my buddy's mom's home. It's not the first P&C item I've acquired from him, and I hope it isn't the last (he owns a 2oz P&C ball peen hammer). His dad left behind a plethora of P&C tools purchased at a hardware store just down the street from the original P&C factory in Milwaukie, Oregon. But enough babbling from me!

I present a P&C #0240 1/4" drive speed wrench - the first I have ever seen.

Also wanted to show this 1/4" drive socket set that came to me via eBay. I gave $32 + shipping for this #0246 pear head ratchet, and (partial?) socket set, including a very unusual sized socket - a 17/64". That's a first for me from any manufacturer. Also of interest, the lot came with an unmarked flex extension.

Interesting speed wrench you have there Brian, with the long length. I've had at least one P&C 1/4" one before, but it was the same length as the Plomb or Proto ones. I think the knob was the same as yours, though. When I sold the P&C stuff I sorted out of my tool box 4 years ago, the buyer didn't want to pay the extra 4 or 5 dollars it would cost to ship the speed wrench in a large flat rate box instead of a medium, so I discarded it and shipped just the wrenches and sockets to him. Don't recall what happened to it, but I'm pretty sure it didn't go back into my box.

If by top, you mean the expo center, then top. If you're in the neighborhood, building C, stall 2253, SE corner of building.

posting pixs here does not work.

Posting pics 101:

Start from the "Go Advanced" posting menus, or the "Post Reply" button near the bottom of any page, (Or hit the "paperclip" button to get to the upload popup); and at step 5 copy it into the URL field after hitting the "postcard" button: (Step 4/5 is optional; you will still have thumbnails)

(Updated photo. The seller of the P&C ratchet and breaker bar combo told me to come back in a couple hours. So far, he's found the sliding T bar and all but 2 of the sockets in the set. Now if only he had the box!

It`s weird I`ve been posting pixs on this site for years and just recently all I get is the link posted not the pic, although sometimes , about 10% of the time it works like it used to.
Don`t have any issues with any other site.
