I'm pretty sure that was an intentional design feature. Small profile = greater access. Unless the drive plug is removable? Going to see if the Thorsen I have is that slim.

I found this unique P&C speeder at an estate sale yesterday and just had to have it. It probably works like an offset screwdriver. :headscrat

Another piece to test your tool-straightening prowess, Don?

While P&C liked to get 'different' with speeders - see the crazy one-handed jobbies they made in 3/8-inch drive (3248) and 1/2-inch drive (6248) - I think that is almost certainly a user-bent 3215, right? And probably not intentional? I can see what you mean about the offset, but the swing arm would put your hands right back into whatever that bend would avoid, right?

I see that you included the bend to show how it doesn't seem jacked up. But I dunno, I'm still thinking user bent.

Maybe MR. X will know.

It was user bent for sure. I was thinking that Username could practice his tool straightening skills on that one. He’s more into P&C than I am.

I picked up these P&C tools at an estate sale in Tacoma a couple of years ago. I paid $9 for the lot which included a handful of other sockets and a complete set of 1/2 drive Craftsman circle H standard sockets. I had never heard of P&C but thought that the ratchet looked identical to a Proto. I found the deep 7/16 on Ebay a few months ago, which surprised me because a 7/16 deep isn't even listed in the 1966 catalog. All of them look new. I think it was a pretty good find.

Almost forgot about this thread. The 1/4" drive set from post #189 has now morphed into this:

Not sure that I can actually stuff it into the box, but I'm still looking for the ratchet handle matching breaker bar...lol

Among my sparse estate sale finds today were these two P&C screwdrivers. I’ll leave the restoration up to Username.

Picked up the longer one of these breakers today. I think they were only making this style for a short period of time around 1930. Both are 1/2" drive, have the 1/2" female recess in the handle, the Milwaukie Oregon and pat. pndg. marking, and both are what they called "inside head" style at a time when they were offering "outside head" breakers too. Surprisingly they have some pretty noticeable differences, the shorter version lacks the stepped drive piece has a more primitive looking fork style and no detent inside the hole where the T-handle would slide thru.

I thought it looked like an early production, rather than a modified later item. If it had stayed up longer, I might have looked at it!

Hey Smoke, some cool dude down in North Salem had it as part of a lot on OfferUp ( which I've never successfully used before). I had to go down that way anyway and seller didn't mind breaking up the lot. When i got there he let me look thru the rest of his stuff. The whole thing was pure luck, I wasn't even looking for P&C, the lot was one of those "similar items" prompts at the bottom of the page.

I showed this off in the garage sale thread as well, but here’s a few more pictures of the instant P&C collection I bought today. The 1/2” sockets seem to be super complete with all he **/32” sizes and 5 eight points. The combos are complete from 1 5/16” down to 13/16”. The 1/2” deeps need a little help, as do the 3/8” sockets. I’ll see what I have to fill in. There’s doubles of the 2734 combo if anyone needs one for a set. Definitely the most P&C I’ve found in one place, and for a steal!

Dave, I think that’s PEC, a different brand altogether. I believe they may have been contract tools by Plomb or Proto but that I’m not sure. There was some discussion about them long ago. I can’t remember when I last saw any, but pretty sure I’ve seen 1/2” drive breaker bars. The nice part is you solved a mystery for me as I’ve been trying to think of the brand for some time!

Here's two P&C body dollies. An egg with the pre-Plomb number 1101 and a much later wedge with a post acquisition numbering system 1457 sticker , which in this case, appears to be placed over a Proto Tools sticker?
