Oh no. This thread was 7 pages back! Time to breath a bit of life back into it.
I picked up a nice handful of P&C sockets last weekend at the flea. Pretty good start to a set. Also a nice little DBE (3/8" & 7/16"), which is a duplicate for me if anyone wants to trade.

This thread falls back too fast for my liking. Somehow I missed your post. Nice tools!

Speaking of nice, I am now the proud owner of a P&C top chest. I had to drive a few hundred miles (round trip) to get it, but I managed to get some other errands taken care of at the same time. $40 + my time.

USER: nice looking sockets. did you buy them in that condition or do tell how you made them look almost new?

Riley: nice looking box and hope traffic wasn't too terrible for you on the drive back. good seeing you again too and thanks for the hand moving those cabinets.

is this P&C as stout as the other old Proto box you showed me?

I can only imagine how heavy a proto box must be [emoji41][emoji16][emoji38]

Smoke: if Riley hadn't said that old Proto box was headed to you i would have found something to trade him for it cause it's a keeper. funny cause he saw your Plvmb top box too before i showed it to you and i'm guessing he wanted it too until he heard i was bringing it for you to look at.

your tool board might get lonely if you have to use all your cool Plvmb and old Proto to fill up these boxes. if you can't use the Proto box i need to see Riley again soon so tell him to give it to Drives. ok?

cheers

Traffic?!? Let's never speak of that again!

Yes, the P&C is very stout. The cover is (obviously) different and has a different locking mechanism but the rest of the box looks identical. I suspect they were made by the same manufacturer - though many years apart.

Riley: any more pictures of the P&C and while you have the Proto how about a side by side pictures?

yep you had a great plan to go after 6:30 and when your seller changed it to 4:00 i almost prayed for you. i recall those roads being backed up at 1:30 on Fridays that you needed to drive on and i'd wager Portland's and Seattle's traffic is maybe as bad as Los Angeles or any other big city's now.

sorry for your pain, but sounds like the other box might be a KEEPER TOO. congrats and nice to see you again.

Drives, I was fortunate to find those sockets in that condition. There was a couple of larger Proto LA and Fleet sockets mixed in that followed me home as well. All in similar condition. Most of my P&C finds are not nearly in that good of shape. :dunno:

Brian, NICE P&C BOX! I would have driven some distance for that as well.:drool:

I've found some more P&C and D42jeep was kind enough to add to the collection as well. I'll have to post some more pics when I get some time.

I have one of their drill braces.
If you look at the catalog pc5210 it has a bunch of their wood working stuff.

http://www.pnctools.com/pc-catalogs/

Thanks for the link. Just when I thought I had a lot of P&C tools, I learn that I've barely scratched the surface!

Brian

PS - Once I acquire a roto-display or any other sort of display board, I will consider myself a proper P&C collector. Until that time, I am just a wanna-be.

Here are a couple of early P&C items I picked up at the Tahoe flea this morning. A 1" cold chisel and a pair of lineman's pliers.

Some P&C stuff from a recent old car swap meet:

1/2" drive 12-point sockets, deep 5/8, 7/8, 1" and a 7/8 standard. And a KAL knock-off of the Plomb/P&C 1/4 drive spinner/extension, along with an open gear Thorsen 3/8 77J.

3/4 and 1-1/16 combos along with a 13/16 x 7/8 DBE.

Here is a large Wright Field P&C DBE wrench I picked up at the Tahoe flea this morning. It's 1-7/16" X 1-1/2".

NotLob; i heard years ago that all the planes flying in from South America into Lake Tahoe brought in a mill foil (weed) that was filling up the lake and those pictures are crystal clear. did they resolve those mill foil issues or are those old pictures? i agree Jeep has it rough doesn't he?

Riley: not to bother you, but i'm looking forward to seeing that P&C top box you picked up after you saw me last week. any pictures to post of it or are you waiting to have it full of your P&C tools first?

cheers

You're no bother!

You've heard it said "When it rains, it pours!". Well that's my issue right now. I've acquired too many boxes without enough thought for where/how to use them.

I'm having an organization problem so the P&C box is sitting sideways on a rack/shelf until I can find a more suitable place to use and fill it. I will be parting with a couple of my existing top boxes in the near future (2 x Huot and 1 Remline) and that should hopefully make some room.

You can stop holding your breath, Smokeshow69, I'm still hanging on to my Plomb top chest :)

Various techniques are being used to eliminate the invasive species including milfoil in Lake Tahoe, and some are proving successful. All watercraft must be washed before launching in area lakes to minimize the spread of the problem. The problem mostly occurs in shallow marina areas and the overall clarity of Tahoe is still amazing as can be seen in Notlob's picture.

Sweet find! I hope it really is P&C.

Speaking of which, I picked this up today - a P&C carry box with a handful of P&C tools. I will try to get pix before the weekend's over. These pictures are from the ad.

I picked up a P&C 2810 over the weekend. It is the early pattern, 4-1/2" long and slender. I think they quit using this pattern before WWII. The later 2810's are an inch shorter and beefier built, because they follow the Plomb pattern. This one had been rusty, and the seller probably wire brushed it a while ago. Since it was only $0.25, I didn't quibble.

Sorry for the lousy photo.

Picked up this board at a garage sale recently. Would have preferred one with better 'content' but still a cool piece, IMO.

No - I'm in the South Puget Sound area. I haven't even checked yet- I may also have some p&c pullers (I know most of mine are proto but there could be some p&c in there).

Finally got around to taking pictures of the P&C tool box and misc tools that came with it. If you want to see everything in detail, I'll be posting to the garage sale thread. Trying to keep it all P&C here.

First off is 3 pictures of the box itself. It is missing the tray but the previous owner threw in a tray from an unknown box just to hold things. I'm particularly find of the P&C 100 decal on the top.

The next couple of photos are of a partial set of P&C nut drivers - the first I have come across.

# 2118 9/16" nut driver (x2)
# 2116 1/2" nut driver
# 2114 7/16" nut driver
# 2110 5/16" nut driver
# 2109 9/32" nut driver
# 2108 1/4" nut driver

Also included are two screwdrivers

- P&C100-P506 screwdriver
# 624 wood handle screwdriver with original price tag! ($1.09)

Edit: The site isn't allowing me to upload photos! Grrr. I'm gunna post this anyways so I don't lose what I typed!

It appears that the file conversion process has ceased to work. I used to be able to upload any size file and the site would convert it to one that is appropriately sized. I can upload files that are under 146 kb - like this one. Meet my 4 month old granddaughter, Dakota. It will have to do until I figure out how to convert my own photos.

Riley - I use the old Word photo editor from Office 2010. It can still be downloaded from Microsoft. I understand that there are plenty of photo editors out there, but I got used to the Word editor when it came with an earlier version of Word. Later versions of Word don't have a photo editor, and I had to download my copy from Microsoft.

I really should research and see if there is an editing program around that is easy to use and compatable with Windows 7 or 8.

These aren't the best pictures because they were taken with my phone, but they will have to do until I can figure out how to edit photos taken with my good camera.

- P&C 3/8" drive speed wrench
- P&C 3/8" drive 12" extension (x2)
- 3 P&C 3/8" drive sockets (grouped together, second from the top right, they are the 2 deep & 1 shallow sockets)

I can upload pictures again! Huzzah!

Don't forget to check the previous post out!

Here's the rest of the photos.

- P&C wood handle screwdriver
- P&C (or Plomb) N-84 double box wrenches x7. I don't see a manufacturer name on any of them, but I suspect at least some were Plomb because the name was ground off.
- 3x P&C double box wrenches including a very unusual 90 degree offset on the 6 pt wrench
- Misc 3/8" & 1/2" sockets

I found quite a few P&C items yesterday at an estate sale in Carson City, Nevada. The large combination wrenches were in very good condition.

My Dad was an aircraft mechanic for 30 years at the Phila. Naval Yard, and served during WW2 servicing reconnaissance planes on the fields of France. P&C was one of his favored brands. One of my most valued tools he gave me when I was young was a P&C dbe 1/2" x 9/16"--can't tell you how many 100s of times I've used it through the years.

(btw, he abhorred Craftsman)
