I'm guessing he was a dealer. Did you pick that up locally? If so, perhaps an old phone book or community business registry might provide information.

Here's an unusual set I came across today while digging out some early Thorsen midget sets. P&C did market these 6 socket, breaker only 1/2" drive sets around 1930 and I have plenty of unmarked sockets that have come from early P&C sets but but I don't ever remember seeing ones knurled or shaped like these.
Amazing socket set. Thanks for sharing.

Excellent! Early decal in great condition, not something you see everyday. How many versions of the red, gold, black & white decal do you know of?

Hey Roy, I assume by the question there's more than one? I saw a Partial 3/4" drive set sell on ebay recently that had the same? logo. Do you have variations? I'll look around here a bit.

Got a mistake set today. They mis-spelled PROTO. I don't have this set, so it's going into my users until I find one spelled correctly.

The good thing is because it was mis-spelled, they sold it to me for $5. The smaller, similar, Proto set they sold to me for $7.

What am I missing? You're talking about a PROTO set with misspelled brand on the P&C thread, but you have pictures of a P&C puller.

He is joking about the seller not knowing that P&C had any value, while knowing that Proto tools had value. I wish I could run into more sellers like that!

And, the puller is identical to Proto ones, right down to the part number; forged on the same dies and then stamped P&C.

My tools are Proto. I used to have a mix of Plomb, P&C, and Proto along with other miscellaneous makers. Over time, I've traded out all my other brands for Proto. I'll do the same for this one if I find a Proto one in similar condition. Until then, it will work as a user just like the Proto one that it is identical to.

The desire to have Proto is just a vanity thing, there's nothing wrong with this tool.

I have one just like that, a grind-off pebble, now P&C puller. I keep it in a Proto LA puller box. I would also like to swap it for the correct one for the box. (It will match my new Plomb puller in box!

It's been awhile since I found any early P&C at a sale. Straight from a N Portland basement. The bluing on most of the 3/8" drive tools looks factory fresh. Also another set of #8 pliers for the collection. It's still out there just harder to find.

Wow! Fantastic find!

Thanks Riley, 3bay & Prov. It's hard to believe that something like a socket set could get little to no use in 90 years.

Thanks Troy, now I just have to find a perfect early box like yours. I still needed to answer your question about the decals. I know of two for sure, and possibly a third but haven't seen it first hand, only in pictures. I'll post a picture of the last version when I get a chance.

Glad I came across this thread, was getting rid of a bunch of old sockets (Taiwan) that were my grandpas but came across several P&C sockets to add to the collection.

It sure does. Other than the P&C markings they look identical.

I found this P&G screw driver at an Estate Sale yesterday. It was new with about 12 others like it in an old box with the name on it.

It's pretty clear it is a late Proto handle, the same ones used on nutdrivers, socket spinners and so on, but I have never seen on marked P&C, let alone Cadet Blue.
