Holy Smokes

You can tell those were hand forged and stamped :)

Thanks Smoke! obviously you can see the similarity of the middle two, one of which is a Thorsen, from right around the time Ned Boyd abducted Tony Stark...uhh, I mean Pete Mortensen and had him build some wrenches in an Emeryville cave.

Yup, saw the TT markings...I had one of those TT DBE's and it went to Rileysan...

That's surprising. Ryan has been open to respectful feedback and has pretty thick skin, which implies it was beyond acceptable, but I've never known jabber to be disrespectful before. I can understand people leaving because of the new GUI. I don't get doing so in any other way than simply saying goodbye, you just can't handle it. Strange.

Yeah, I am not sure what happened, nor did I see the interaction...he just mentioned this to me via message. At any rate I just was letting folks know so they didn't worry about him or wonder what happened. The new format takes a little bit to get used to but the photo features are light years beyond what the old forum was.

Me neither and I am not going to say anything else. This topic is just too stupidly hot right now. Granted, some of the feedback has been rude. But the guys who want to characterize every bit of feedback, no matter how constructive and respectful, as rude, ungrateful, and unnecessary, are wrong, and it's just making the environment more toxic. So toxic that it's impossible to talk about.

Well I just found out that Jabberwoki will not be joining us anymore...I will miss seeing his posts!
Wow... This is terrible news.
Jabberwoki and Smokeshow were kind enough to help me out with the last 2 missing DOEs from this countertop display. Jabber's contribution will be missed...

Here's the full board, finally!

And a bonus close quarter screwdriver that I found at the flea last weekend.

Glad to help a brother out! That came from a big haul of p&c I found a couple of weeks ago from an estate sale. Your board is looking good!

Happy to give the whole story.

I've worked pretty hard on this site. Like heart and soul hard... Stress, endless hours, etc... This is the feedback he posted on a thread asking for constructive criticism:

I hate adds, i understand the reason for them but it`s time to find another site that`s just starting up.

Of course, the current site has no more ads than the last... And keep in mind, my mental state is pretty fragile at the moment. I sent him this PM:

Happy to close your account for you.

And he replied with:

And so I did...

***

Now that I am a bit less stressed and have gotten most of the scary parts of this behind me, I realize that I handled that wrong. I believe his post was thoughtless and well... pretty ****** given the context. BUT, it's my job to be bigger than that... and I wasn't.

And that's the complete truth. Two parties were stupid, but it was my fault.

This post gave me some reflection I guess... A boy would forget about it and move on, right? And a man would send another man an email... and apologize, right? I can literally hear my dad in my head right now telling me that just sitting here is something a boy would do.

My dad was such a pain in the ***... I guess I gotta go write an email.

Also, sorry guys. I'll try to fix my wrong.

EDIT: So his email address on file isn't valid any longer. So, I unbanned his account and sent him a pm. I assume some of you guys know him? I'd appreciate someone reaching out and just letting him know that I sent him a note.

Ryan, thanks for owning it :) I know sometimes I react poorly when stressed so I can relate. I will send him a message right now and let him know his account is back on! Thanks.

We've all been on both sides, Ryan, overly sensitive about our accomplishments and rudely insensitive toward the efforts of others. This is a situation where there is fault on both sides. Thanks for reaching out to bridge the divide.

Thank you sir... and also, if he doesn't want to come back - that's on me, not him... I'd totally get that.

As burned bridges go, that is easily the most polite one I have ever seen! HAHA. Not a trace of smoke or fire and it should be easy to walk back over.

Honestly, I was getting blasted with ads my first log-in, and then it went back to normal... or quite possibly I just noticed them more in that white space between the banner and the top of the forums frames.

I hope he discovers his fears were unfounded, his first reaction was impulsive, and that he returns.

I don't know of another webmaster who has this level of personal correspondence with forum members on such a large site. It is a privilege.

Right!....back to work.......OK, well the "work" pic is probably Lowell stuff but the 2nd one is some early 5/8 " drive P&C. Another **** picture, I know, I don't even have the Logo's showing, but hey, someone had to get the ball rolling.

Speaking of boxes, I got this one from Bmw awhile back. I still haven't filled it up yet but hope to soon. What era is this ? I feel like it is war time or just before war time ? The box is in pretty good shape, aside from a few dings and a missing latch. I need to clean up the box of all the rust, dents and filth. Of course, I need to first clean up the p&c dinging hammer I found a few weeks ago because that would be most correct to use on this as opposed to my proto ones :) Oh there goes my ocd :)

Nice box! Now you gotta fill it up!

Yeah Sure!... I confess I don’t know much about this company and just read some stuff about it this morning. The logo on my box looks pretty early doesn’t it? Anybody have an advertisement picture of the contents?

I just read every post in this topic, early on there was a link to catalogs that I didn’t venture into yet....WOW, so much to absorb. Sadly the box I got today has the curvy “corral” for the sockets missing, there are small holes where it was attached...I will clean the spraybomb silver paint off and see if the other stuff is putty or bondo. I am clearly light-years away from having a set. It does appeal to me that p&c is kind of an orphan brand. I have many of them in my large dbe junk boxes. Will start looking for this brand on purpose!
