Well after reading post after post on here and after flipping back and forth for the last 4 years or so, my wife and I finally decided that our 2 car detached garage was just not enough room for our vehicles, some toys and of course the kids stuff too. One of the main reasons we decided to build was the addition of our 2015 Challenger. Everytime one of the kids would go into the garage to get a bicycle or a basketball, I would get a touch of anxiety. Not to mention, since the challenger needed to be in the garage, one of our daily driver's would be outside. So we started looking into the building and got a couple quotes, we finally settled on a builder and signed in the middle of November. We decided to go with Pine Creek Construction and settled on a 30x40 building with a 10 ft ceiling and scissor trusses. We also added a 10x44ft post and beam porch that wraps around one corner of the building for some outdoor patio area. At the time the builder said it would be early January for the build and as long as they could drill the holes, they would build. So I started the permitting process including having some of my property combined so that we could put the garage where we wanted. In the meantime, finished the plans with the contractor and things were looking more like the end of January. Fast forward to the week after Christmas and I get the call that they want to start the first week of January. So it was now the mad rush to get the permits back and let's not forget about the couple trees I have to take down yet. Thank goodness for the mild winter so far. So I spent the 3 days before they were starting removing some trees and moving the kids swingset and then decided to put the garage in a completely different position than planned so I needed to take down 3 additional trees. We got everything done and they started the build. They have one more days worth of work now to put the man door in and then they'll be back once the weather breaks to pour the concrete floor for the porch.

I like the look and may steal the idea.
What size are the posts and main beam on your outer car port?
Thanks

Looks like a nice build good luck with it. I would put a garden shed in for the yard tools and to maximize your space in your new garage.
