Packard 1/3hp Motor Wiring

I am working on a Craftsman 103.23590 bench top drill press, and it had a Packard 110v 1/3hp motor on it. When I picked the press up, the motor worked but the wiring was crusty.

In my infinite wisdom, I disassembled it to clean and paint the case ...and neglected to mark the wires as where they go. Anyone have a resource for these old motors, or have a motor lying around that could give me a hand?

I think I got it. Checked resistance, identified the circuits, and got it fired up!!

Well, I spoke too soon. Got the motor wired up, starts and runs great. When I put it on the drill press and put a belt on it, it stalls and won't start. If I hold the motor up to take the load off the spindle, it starts fine and runs when I put a load on it....but then starts to smoke. I figure it's just a weak motor..

If you've got end-to-end play in the armature after assembly, it may be shifting under its own weight once you mount if vertically on the machine. If that armature isn't positioned properly to put the centrifugal switch in contact, you may be losing your start windings.
