Packout lock

I have the Milwaukee packout boxes, the lid has an eyelet and where it meets the body of the box there is a hole. The holes are aligned from box to box.

I want to get a cable lock that will run through all the boxes and through a d ring mounted to the floor or wall.

The holes are 10.5mm wide, however on a couple boxes the eyelet and the hole on the body of the box dont align perfectly, so I would like to get one that is thinner than 10.5 so I'm not fighting against the hassle of feeding the cable. I'm lazy so I want to be able to fish it through quick, and pull it out quick.

My problem is all the locks I seem to see are pretty much bike locks where the plastic ends are too thick, or looped cable ends you can lock together with a padlock. I've found one so far: https://www.homedepot.com/p/Ideal-S...5?MERCH=REC-_-pip_mobile-_-NA-_-308542455-_-N

Anyone have any suggestions or alternative ideas before I pull the trigger. I want it to be thin enough to feed through the packout holes, but strong as well. I'd prefer someone wasn't able to walk off with it after cutting it with dyles or mini bolt cutters.

I need it to be at least 7 foot to feed through, feed back down, and reach the dring. I'm not opposed to extra length since the packout is a modular system and I may stack more onto it later on.

I would say your on the right track for being how the holes are. I also have the Packout system. I do know that my bike lock that I have is small enough to go through the holes. Mine is a master lock brand.

I have a lock, probably 6mm, with a straight end that goes into a barrel combination tumbler.

I think it's a kryptonite brand. It's either a ski lock or bike lock, I can try to check later. Ski locks will have the narrow end.

A cable that thin won't offer any real protection, just maybe some deterrence. A ratchet strap would probably do the same

The cable locks posted above are about as good as anything you'll find. Nothing is theft PROOF, you just need to make it difficult enough that they'll most likely move on.

Another option, albeit a PITA, would be a padlock on each locking tab, linked through a piece of 3/8" chain.

Agreed. If they want them they will take/get in them. Locks are a deterrent for honest people at best. Thieves will take the whole thing and cut not matter what lock you have off later.
