I am looking at buying a truck that has paint that has been brushed on. How difficult would that be to repair/fix? Or would it be better to remove the paint and start over?

Leave it...probably not looking too bad. Here's a brush job on a GMC and you have to get right up on it to see it is a brush job. Quite acceptable on that one.

Assuming prep under brushed-on paint is OK, metal sanded and primered, you can leave it.

If brush marks aren't to your liking, try some wet-sanding to smooth out finish and then clearcoat it.

I have seen some brush jobs that looked better than other DIY spraycan or HVLP-gun paint jobs... good prep and a skilled operator can make for a really decent job. Lack of prep or care can make for an awful finish no matter the method.

BLONDE PAINTS A PORCH

A blonde canvassed a wealthy neighborhood looking for odd jobs. She went to the front door of the first house and asked the owner if he had anything for her to do.

"Well, you can paint my porch. How much will you charge?"

She replied, "How about $50?"

The man agreed and told her the paint was in the garage. A short time later, the blonde came to the door to collect her money.

"You're finished already?" he asked.

"Yes," the blonde answered, "and I had paint left over, so I gave it two coats." Impressed, the man reached in his pocket for the $50.

"And by the way," the blonde added, "that's not a Porsche; it's a Ferrari.
