Hey Guys-

Newbie here. I've never had to post because the answer to every question I've had was found by searching. So thanks for that!

Anyway, I'm putting down ArmorSeal and I want blue\white\black flakes. Where should I buy them? ChipsUnlimited.com or should I get the Rusteleoum flakes from Garage-Toys.com? Somewhere else?

Thanks!

If you have a Menards near by, they would probably have the Rust Oleum flakes. Lowes and Home Depot might too if they sell the Rust Oleum epoxy kits.

No Mernards here in Colorado Springs, but I called Home Depot. They can special order them for ~$20 per bag.

I ended up buying them from ChipsUnlimited.com. $60 shipped for 10lbs. I'll should have plenty of chips now!

$20 a bag. Damn that's expensive. I want to say the bags of chips were something like $5 or 6 each around here in Indiana.

Paint Flake Regret?

Has anyone who used flakes on the floor regretted it? After putting white/grey/black flakes in my bathroom, I'm now wondering if I want them in the entire floor.

One of the things I'm really looking forward to is for once in my life to drop a nut or circlip or woodruff key or whatever on the floor, and not have to waste 5 minutes on my hands an knees looking for it. Those flakes, especially the black ones, are looking suspiciously like dropped-fastener camouflage...

Can't say that I regret the flakes. I do kind of regret going with a dark base color. If you think black flecks are camo, try a dark red floor and a lacking of general lighting. It makes for interesting searches when you drop something.

You could always pick the black ones out of the pack before starting.:)

Along those lines, there is a company that will custom mix flecks for epoxy floors. Can't think of the name off the top of my head.

The chips help hide imperfections in the floor and disguise dirt and debris so the floor looks good, They also help hide any small part dropped on them. I use a magnet roller (Magnatool-a roofing tool for picking up nails and metal debris from yards-available at home supply or specialty roofing stores) to find and pick up small dropped parts. This works a lot better than my eyes and saves me from getting down on hands and knees.
