Paint for restoring a vise?

Rat Rod paint formula. Gotta be rusty to start with. Cover the rust w/ rust converter then clear coat

I will say that if you're using a vise, it won't stay pretty and unmarked for very long. This is just life in the shop. So I don't think it's worth spending a lot of money or time unless you're prepared to live with the inevitable scuffs and scars.

That would work fine. If there are any rough spots, now would be a good time to refine the surface before re spraying. I like to use a fine sanding sponge.

This is a user vise, I'm not going to sell it, and I’m fine with it looking more used eventually.

I agree with @AreBeeBee and @paulsomlo that it really isn’t going to matter in the long run, it’s just since I painted it very recently.. I’d like it to look good and have a good coat of paint on for a while longer.

Thanks. I’ll keep that in mind. I’m hoping my one can of paint will last another coat.. or I’ll really feel dumb.

I chose to powder coat one. They sand blasted it and did all the prep work in house then hit it with an industrial grey powder. More durable than paint.
