Anybody know of a good automotive style gun that is not hvlp and does not break the bank? I need to paint my cage in my buggy and need to be able to spray at different/odd angles including possibly upside down. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

If you already own an HVLP gun, investing in a disposable cup system may be the better way to go. I have the Devilbiss Dekups system and love it! I can paint upside down all day long with no worries. I picked mine up from a dealer on ebay for not much more than what I would have invested in another gun. 3M makes a similar system also.

A pressure pot system has traditionally been used for this application of needing to spray upside down. However, I second DeKups as the best and most economical method of using a conventional or HVLP gravity gun for this purpose. The pressure pot will work on either a HVLP or conventional gun as style of gun and method of fluid feed are unrelated.

Alright thanks. I have a cheap gun now so I highly doubt anything devilbliss stuff would work with it. I thought about a pressure pot but don't know much about them. I guess I'll try to research them some if I can use my existing gun. This is just a buggy and the paint is going to get beat off so cheap is good. I just have to figure out how to get it there. I've always rattle canned it but new color doesn't play fair with rattle cans and hoping to get a little better/tougher paint.

Devilbiss makes adaptors for many different brands of guns. So happens the one I have also fits my cheap no-name brand primer gun as well as my finish gun.

Ok maybe I'm showing my ignorance here but with a gravity feed gun how's it going to work inverted?

I'm certainly no painting expert I'm just trying to wrap my head around how that would work?

With DeKups or PPS (3M) these systems use a bladder enabling them to be turned upside down. Atmospheric pressure compresses the bladder and that's how the paint comes out.
