Looking to add a new HVLP gun to the fleet of cheapies and my turbine system. Looking to spend about $100, any suggestions? Been looking at the Eastwood versions and Devilbiss (they sell both).

Be general use, mostly for the oil based coatings-auto paint, lacquer. I use the turbine for most water based material.
A metal cup and ability to change needle size would be bonuses.

I've got 2 snap on excalibers. 1 for base coat, 1 for clear coat. I got a cheap husky from Home Depot I use for primers and a cheap no name touch up gun. I go through a lot of primer guns due to the fact that I don't clean them too well. That said, I've been eye-ing an ingersoll-rand gun at tractor supply. Might be right up your ally.

Might be able to order different size tips. Not sure what you're looking to do. I have several tips for my guns. I have 1.6, 1.4, and 1.3.

I bought my sharpe finex fx3000 from advance with one of their easy to find online coupons for under $100. Didnt do too much with it yet but for what i needed done it worked just fine. Gets pretty good reviews as well.

For reasonably priced guns it's hard to beat Sharp, to get better you need to move up the cost a lot. I have a sharp titanium that actually sprays about as good as I could do with anything. I guess if you were a real live custom painter you might do better with a thousand dollar gun but the average guy wont.

You need to know what viscosity of paint you intend to spray prior to buying a spray gun so that you can pick the correct fluid tip. Car basecoats and clearcoats typically are sprayed with 1.3 or 1.4 Needle/Nozzle sets whereas primer typically uses 1.7-1.8 Needle/Nozzle sets and Polyester Primer Fillers typically need N/N sets typically greater than 2 mm. Without knowing what it is that you intend to spray it's impossible to give a gun recommendation.

Without a doubt, dnschmidt is an expert on this subject. He has tested more guns than anyone I know. Provide more info and listen to his advice.

For a good all-around gun look at Devilbiss FinshLine guns. I have been using one for a primer gun for about 6-7 years with 1 rebuild in it. I have a huge tip in it 1.8 but even with such a large tip it will lay a decent coat of paint if I'm being lazy with something that doesn't really matter.

For really cheap I like that ATD stuff from the auto parts store. I don't have an hvlp but got a couple other spray guns I bought with the intention of it being a temp deal or robbing parts but they worked so well I still use them.
