Moved into a new home about two years ago. Garage is in tough shape.

I have sheet rock on one wall and ceiling, cinder block on other two walls, all of which could you use a good paint job. Was planning on using Kilz everywhere first, just not sure the type of paint to use afterwards.

I'd use Kilz oil based primer and two coats of it. Depending onthe size of your garage, it might be cheaper right off the bat to buy a 5 gal can of it. :dunno:

I'd follow that up with a light color paint to keep it bright out there. Kilz does have a line of regular paint also, you might to check that out.

FWIW, you may find putting a darker color at the bottom of the wall might hide alot of dirt.

I think I may do that. I have been liesning towards grey with a darker grey for the trim. My other question is my wood cabinets. Right now they are a nasty dark brown with rusted hardware. I am going to prime them, pain them, and install new hardware. The problem is what color??? Dark grey would like strange I think as would wood tones. I'm lost... Ugh

My ceiling and upper walls are white. Lower wall is dark gray with a blue stripe seperating the upper/lower. I painted my workbench and cabinets flat black so as not to show dirt. I used Rustoleum so they are easy to touch up.

Lowe's had a paint that had primer made into it for block walls/concrete. It wasn't cheap at $150 for 5 gallons, but it has a lifetime guarantee on not fading and peeling. We used it on our block foundation a over a year ago outside. It still looks new. We did have to use two coats though.

Put down two coats of Kilz this afternoon. I am leaning towards light grey for the walls floor to ceiling, white ceiling, dark grey cabinets.
