Hey guys Im painting the inside walls of my garage and im doing the coat of primer right now. The primer im using is CIL and I did all the walls to realize that the paint was feakin exterior paint..... It says on the back of the can exterior use only but it seems to have gone on fine so is there going to being any side affect to this......... The interior walls are just drywall(gypsum board)....... and the paint is an acrylic latex base

thanks

I've heard that 'exterior use only' paints contain mercury as a mildew inhibitor.

I'm not expert, but I suspect you won't want to use that paint indoors.

I see no reason why you can just paint over it with interior latex.

Well you paid more for it.
Mercury I don't know about, but I doubt it, but it does have some sort of UV inhibiter. Painting over it with int.paint is not a problem.

Mercury in interior paint, holy s-t! Mercury as one of the most toxic metals shouldn't be used neither in interior nor exterior paint. But, quite difficult to say if any possible fungicides or other stuff in a exterior paint can do any harm if used in a garage. How many hours a week do you spend there? 1 or 10 or 20? Is it possible to check what stuff is in your paint? Any declarations available? But, just covering it with one layer of interior paint might be worth it.

I use exterior paint inside all the time. There's no danger at all in that. And it's not what this thread is about.

If paint is marked 'exterior use only,' then it's not your run-of-the-mill exterior paint. It's the kind with added mercury.
