Got a good deal on some discontinued paint. Latex semi-gloss. Primed the OSB with oil base primer and the top 7 1/2 feet I painted with the white latex semi-gloss. I would like to paint the bottom 4 feet gray. I have a lot of the white latex left. What do you think about buying a gallon of black latex and mixing it with 2 or 3 gallon of the white? I think the top turned out pretty good after one coat of prime and one coat of semi-gloss.

If it did work like that, you need about a cup of black for three gallons of white.

However, you have little to lose. I have done it with good results.

You should be able to get the leftover paint tinted at just about any paint store. It may not match the color you are looking for 100% but they can get it close, especially since the paint is white.

Only problem is no real control over color mixing paints, -if it matters, it can get away from you real quick. Since black & white do measured mixing to get proportions, I use meaureing spoons when playing with house colors to see if I can get close. Also cutting with black, let it dry-usually dries few shades darker.

As suggested I'd have tinted-cost is usually nominal-the color over primer will probabaly take more paint. Maybe buy 1 gal, have 3 tinted, if your close, want to set some of the white aside. Box all the custom paint.
