Paint removal on concrete

Id like to remove all of the paint from my basement walls. There are about 6 layers from the previous owner. Does anyone have a preferred method of paint removal to get all of this off effectively?

So far there are heavy duty strippers and soda blasting. I'm hesitant to do soda blasting due to the mess. I have tenants living right above the basement so keeping chemical vapors or dust to a minimum would be preferred. If possible.

I spent 2 hours yesterday with a paint scraper, vinegar and tried a wire wheel on my DA. Maybe got a 2 foot section down to bare concrete

Soda Blasting will be the most effective...you'll just need to tarp in the entire room and get a negative air machine. Definitely something to hire out versus DIY.

Good time to insulate and put up new surface, drywall or other.

From the sound of it, this seems like the best bet right here. A fully finished basement in drywall is a value addition to equity also.

If the walls are dry. This is a basement. I hope the OP can make a sound judgement on that because otherwise it would create a huge mess.

Yeah, I understand it looks nice but it's not happening. I'm going with a breathable paint for concrete and want it done correct and once. All other paints on wet, or breathing surfaces are just damaging my foundation

I sent out a request for a pro to soda blast. And I'll do the painting

Paint for reference is called silacote.

I used a heat gun with some success on a brick fireplace, at times it came off in sheets, the grout lines sucked.

I had a similar issue removing centuries of peeling paint from wood beams and flooring in an old log house. I got a vacuum blaster and used walnut shells. It worked quite well. There was still some mess, but it was much, MUCH less than you'd get from a conventional blaster. Hint: the cheap walnut shells from Harbor Freight worked better than the expensive ones from TP Tools.

I'll also add that I bought this blaster for about half what Amazon is charging in this ad. Shop around.
