Hey guys, i have a fair bit of painting to get done, and was looking into getting a paint sprayer, there seems to be mixed reviews for most of them, i was wondering if anyone has experience with any, and would recommend a particular one?

I am looking to spray interior latex paint, and some wood stain as well, if possible.

What sprayer are you looking at? What are you looking to spray, interior rooms?

I have a airless and a HVLP for home work, besides my satas for car painting. One thing about airless sprayers for interior painting is that they really aren't worth it unless all flooring and trim is out of the room. I thought it would be a great thing but you have to mask everything off before you spray so it's quicker and easier to just paint by brush and roller. After a couple rooms you will be able to cut in trim freehand.

I also have a HVLP that I use for spraying trim and whatnot. I love this thing.

If the floor and trim is on then just paint it with a brush and roller. I thought an airless sprayer would be so nice but honestly I have only used it a couple of times, for a basement I finished and a garage I did.

Anothing thing about airless sprayers is the cheap wagner ones are one time use junk. It's one of those things that you have to spend decent money to get the entry level ones to be able to get good results and use more than once.

I don't have a lot to spray, but i have crown molding to spray (i am spraying it the same color as the walls)...because of the design of the crown molding, it would impossible to paint with a roller...and take forever to paint with a brush...soo i figured a paint sprayer would be great...i can do the taping a bit at a time during the week when i get in from school, and then on the weekend, just spray out the rooms.

I looked at several different types...airless, HVLP...some titans, gracos, wagner, even ryobi...i looked into renting as well. The problem with the rental is that, it seems to only accept large quantities (5 gallons) because i am doing multiple rooms, with different colors, i am not actually putting on a particular color in a large quantity ( 3 different colors, about 3 gallons of each), so, the rental wouldn't work very well (or so i was told by the employee)

So i am stuck with buying something, i also need to stain some fencing, and pergola (that i will be building in a few days' time), soo i was hoping to get something that can do stains as well. I am just not sure which ones can be used for smaller quantities, i came across a few titans and gracos, but they all seemed more suitable for commercial purposes ( i.e. 5 gallons or greater)...soo i'm a bit stuck...i looked at the ryobi:

Which looks like a great idea...but it has had mixed reviews..and i'm concerned about the durability of it, and even if it actually does work.

This is "entry level" for airless sprayers, http://www.gleempaint.com/titan440i.html. I bought a used one and they are rebuildable for cheap if they ever do go out. The airless sprayers that the box stores sell for up to 500 are not rebuildable and when I was researching for a sprayer they all got pretty bad reviews.

One option for you might be to get one of these HVLP guns, http://www.gleempaint.com/hvcongunnew.html. I have one and use it for all my trim and cabinet work. It is a really nice gun. You could spray the trim with it and then roll the walls and ceiling.

The problem with airless is you have to fill the line with paint before it sprays, so you have 50 ft plus full of paint before any gets out the tip. They are nice and have thier purpose. I bought mine thinking it was the greatest thing on earth since I hate painting but found out that a brush and roller really are better 90% of the time for me.
