Does anyone use or own a paint thickness gauge to test for repainted cars or panels on car?

What is a good gauge that will not break the bank?

Elcometer is the industry standard
311 fnf which measures thickness on steel and aluminum . Expensive but worth it. I've used mine purchasing used cars in the past
