What color do I paint my new drywall in my detached shop/garage?
My house and outside color of my detached shop/garage is brown.

I was thinking keeping the ceiling white to reflect light then the walls a shade of green or blue.

Or to make it easy 1 color ceiling and walls but what color would reflect light the best?
I certainly do not want white ceiling and white walls. To much white

I am asking the forum what color for the ceiling and the walls or what color for the ceiling and what color for the walls?

Any questions please let me know. I am open to all ideas.

If you actually work in your garage, light gray walls and white ceiling, latex flat. If you are storing $1MM worth of exotic cars, do the green/blue/black stripe semi gloss.

I myself am in the same boat as you and I am gonna do my ceiling white and my walls will be a light gray. I am going to build cabinets in there and they will be black frames with dark gray drawer and doors. I just like that color scheme. All white would be nice and bright but I prefer it to look like I want it so I am going with the grays. I saw pics of someone else's set up and really liked the grays....but that's just me.

Don't listen to any replies on what color to paint it. Paint it the color that YOU want.

There has been a bazillion threads (and arguments) on drywall vs. OSB vs. metal vs......and the second largest threads are what to paint what you have. Only you (or your wife or girlfriend) knows what you want and will like. And after you paint it, if you don't like it, repaint it. Everyone's taste is different. Everyone's work in the garage is different. So color is a personal preference.

I did mine in "Light French Grey" both the walls and ceiling, just used a Wagner sprayer, didn't have to mask off walls. Then did a dark grey for trim and entry door.
Both colors go good with red tool boxes.

To answer the main questions, all white would indeed reflect the most light. I did all white and it did look like too much white at first. But once everything was hung, mounted etc it isn't too much anymore. I do work in my garage and need as much light as I can get. Mine is also semi-gloss.

White ceiling is what I did too. Muted soft gray/green on the walls.

How big is your place and how tall are the walls though?

I didn't use any flat paint in the garage either. Marks up too easily it seems.
I also painted all of the Door, window and baseboard trim the same color as the walls and really like it all blended together like that.

The most common paint scheme is light ceiling and upper wall to help reflect light, and dark lower to hide grime with an accent stripe if you want some flair. I painted my ceiling light gray with sand texture, and I really like it, it looks kind of like concrete, and hides grime well.

Definitely go with semi gloss or satin paint, flat does not hold up as well. If you decide to do the stripe there's a few threads on here with some tips. I painted mine twice because I didn't look up how to do it right the first time.

I'm very happy with how my paint turned out:
