Paint vs. Stain the $200 dollar idea

Ok now I did some searching here and some searching a home depot etc...

I have a theory: I need your guys opinion if this will work.

My goal is the following:
1. A high gloss showroom finish
2. That looks like a washed out stained concrete floor (See pics for examples) That way if there is a repair needed then it can be fixed and blended.
3. Easy and Cheap to fix/repair in the future
4. Easy and Cheap to do
5. Paint is durable if maintained but not permanent (like a stain)

Materials:
1. A few gallons black paint cheap olypimia paint $8 a gallon
2. A few gallons silver paint cheap olypimia paint $8 a gallon
3. Water for diluting
4. Possibly Mineral Spirits for diluting (for washed out look)
5. High Gloss Wet look Top Coat
6. Etch primer
7. Degreaser
8. Brushes and tape

Now If the garage floor is properly prepped and etched. If I apply a light diluted paint in checkered board pattern 24 inch squares and then apply a high gloss top sealer that is chemical resistant and peal resistant will this flooring hold up for at least a year or 2. The garage will not see to heavy of traffic so what do you guys think can I get the concrete stain look for half the price yet be durable. In my mind paint fails do to the fact that no one applies the topcoat sealer. Plus I think this would be stronger then garage paint they sell at home depot and give it an artistic touch like the stain look.

I have priced out the materials and it looks like I can do all of this for about $200 or under and use the left over paint to paint the walls.

How in the world do you figure some cheap crappy paint will beat floor epoxy

well here is a stained example garage. I may go this way if the paint doesn't work

you are confusing polished concrete with a stain vs a coating and at that a cheap paint... Do your research first and you will soon realize that 200 dollars will not get you anywhere near what you have pictured... The acetone stains alone to accomplish what you pictured runs about 100 dollars a gallon on top of that to coat or polish the concrete appropriately you are looking at a couple dollars a square ft for coating up to 6 bucks a square for polishing.

I would go with the "washed out" stained concrete look. I had thoughts about doing that myself.

Man, I love the look of wet concrete.

I would suggest an actual high quality stain designed for concrete and it is going to cost more than 8 dollars a gallon and a high quality sealer is not gonna be cheap. Remember good products great results bad products twice as much time and expense to do it again. I like acid stain look as well as epoxy that is why I apply both of them I guess.lol....
