Gotta paint the buildings here.
And some of the neighbors have bought Texcote Coolwall". It's one of these super long lasting coatings instead of paint. I hear Rhino Shield being pitched the same way.
Supposedly lasts forever and is way more heat reflective.
But my googling isn't showing me any real information...
ANy experts here on this stuff? Is it really better than regular high quality paint? Any negatives?

I should note both the Texcote coolwall and Rhinoshield products seem to only be sold by special "dealers". This has made me particularly wary of them...
The Texcote stuff is claimed to include some magic Kynar substanace and Rhinoshield claims to be a "ceramic coating"...

Honestly, just hearing the carnival barkers over-promoting the RhinoShield stuff on AM radio makes me suspicious. Unless I am proven otherwise I suspect that is an overpriced gimmick.

And if someone can prove me wrong, please fire away.

The house across the from a property I maintain had one of those supper coatings applied to their house, It peeled and looked worse than ugly. Be sure that you will be protected from that fate.

I found a video a couple years ago where the guy built a couple test boxes for testing the so-called insulating paints versus standard paint of the same color. He had temperature sensors in both boxes and recorded the temps continuously. His conclusion was that there's no insulating value to these paints whatsoever.

Thinking out loud here, if it was any good I'm sure SW's or PPG would also be selling it.
