Painted rough concrete floor - suitable for epoxy?

I have a garage floor painted probably several+ years ago with grey concrete paint. The paint's in terrific shape, no cracking or peeling. The floor is not smooth concrete though, it's rough/bumpy, like they never smoothed it or deliberately had that type of finish made so as to allow for traction (great traction with wet/snow on it, you don't slip). No cracks in the surface either, the concrete itself is in very good shape.

I'd like to do epoxy on it, but will I have to have a pro come and grind it down to get to a smooth finish and remove all the old paint? That could be an expensive proposition so I need to take that into consideration.

Thanks for any tips.
