Painted Switch Plates

I should start wiring the new shop this weekend. Has anyone painted the galvanized switch plates? Thinking it might add a nice touch. Not an artist so anything other than straight stripes are out although I would like to see them. I would love flat black with pinstriping but no way I can pull that off

I have no experience painting them, but I should think that a galvanized surface that has not aged a bit may be difficult to get paint to adhere to. Perhaps there is some preparation process that needs to be done.

I would leave them a natural galvanized for a more "industrial" look if that is what you are after.

I covered mine with faux carbon fiber vinyl wrap. Looks like the real deal.

I have the bakelite cover plates. I sprayed them black, the took some silver and give it a real quick spray which was more dots on the black than spray. It made the plates look like the dark metal on the Gladiator cabinets.
